For those itching with green thumbs but not sure where to start, New York Public Library (NYPL) has curated an experience just for you. Launched in April 2019, the Seed Library is a collection of over 40 varieties of non-GMO seeds for herbs, vegetables, and flowers available to anyone with a valid NYPL library card. Located in Room 67 at the Mid-Manhattan branch at 42nd street, each cardholder can take up to 3 types of seeds per visit (while supplies last). They also published a comprehensive guide that details the background of every seed, level of difficulty to care for, and easy-to-follow instruction. For those thirsty for more, related books have been selected and are displayed in the same room, available for borrow. So stop by, get the planting pots ready, and show off the fruit of your labor on social media with #NYPLseeds.
